Patras: what Manos Daskalakis says after reporting the death of his daughters – Malena and Iris

The defense side of the father of the three dead girls, Manos Daskalakis, remained silent until the final verdict on the deaths of Malena and Iris was made public, proving criminal activity.

According to the Mega channel, Manos Daskalakis’ side is waiting to analyze the forensic results with his legal representatives and then give an answer. This is expected to happen in the coming days. In his testimony, Manos Daskalakis stated that he had “second thoughts” about Georgina’s death, but not about the other two children.

However, the girls’ mother, Rula Pispirigou, said as soon as she was informed of the shocking discovery: “I have nothing to do with the death of my children, I deny any suspicion or accusation. I lost my children, but I was deprived of my personal freedom and I am in prison.”

As previously written “Athenian News” both children died of asphyxiation as a result of criminal activity. The final report of two forensic experts on the deaths of the younger children, Malena and Iris of the Pispirikou-Daskalakis family of Patras, was delivered to the Metropolitan Police’s homicide unit on Monday. According to the report, “both children died of asphyxiation as a result of criminal activity.”

An investigation by medical examiners Nikos Karakoukis and Nikos Kalogrias, who also analyzed all previous findings from other medical examinations, concluded that in both cases it was death from asphyxiation and not death from pathological causes. The report is expected to be further submitted to the court.

Malena, 3.5, died in 2019 and Iris, 6 months old, in 2021 at the family home in Patras. The eldest daughter, Georgina, died in January 2022 while in the hospital under mysterious circumstances.

Exactly Georgina’s death triggered a criminal case and ended with the arrest of 33-year-old mother Rula Pispiriku. She was the only person in the hospital room when her eldest daughter died.

Further investigation found large amounts of ketamine in Georgina’s tissues and blood. The find had a domino effect, setting off further investigations into the deaths of two other girls in the family.

Speaking about the report on the deaths of the two girls, medical examiner Dimitris Galenteris told the state broadcaster on Monday ERTthat “the conclusions drawn from the data obtained indicate a lack of oxygen and suffocation.” The find showed exactly what happened to the two unfortunate children. “I am waiting for new histopathological results. Only after receiving them will a conclusion be made, ”he added, pointing out that there is not enough data yet to show the involvement of the mother or doctors in the death of children. “There are specific tissue lesions that can be seen under a microscope that are pathogenic for this mechanism of death,” he explained.

Over the weekend, a team from the Attica Metropolitan Region’s homicide unit visited Patras to take statements from Rula Pispirigou’s parents and other witnesses living in the area. The father of the children gave evidence to investigators on Friday in Athens, where he now lives permanently.

Although the medical examination is carried out in parallel with the police examination, there is still no indication or evidence that the mother killed the three children. According to media reports, the police must carefully find out who was with the younger girls when they died.

The media is wondering how the medical examiners who investigated the deaths of Malena and Iris didn’t see deaths from asphyxiation. Grigoris Leon, Chairman of the Association of Forensic Experts, a few days ago wonderedwhether these “scientists acted purposefully or not.”

The media believe that if Malena’s death had been proven to be a “murder”, the other two girls would still be alive.
