The Police Department of the Nea Smyrni metropolitan area received a statement from a 19-year-old girl, which says that on the night of Saturday to Sunday (06/19), when she was returning home, she was sexually assaulted by an unknown man.
The victim told the police that everything happened shortly after 23:15 at night, when she was moving along Eleftherio Venizelu Street, very close to the tram stop, in the direction of her house.
At some point, she noticed a figure following her. When the girl turned into an alley, in an unlit place, she suddenly felt a hand grab her, and then the man rushed at her, tried to knock down and tear her clothes.
The girl began to scream, while putting up strong resistance. Local residents came running to help, and the stranger ran away. However, not for long, because ΕΛ.ΑΣ. was notified of the incident, and after a few minutes, the emergency response team ΔΙ.ΑΣ. started searching for the culprit.
As a result, a 30-year-old Greek was handcuffed and charged accordingly.
