Italy urged Russia to explain "unethical" Italian media

Russian Ambassador Sergei Razov was summoned to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs over Russia’s remarks about the “immorality” of the Italian media in covering military events in Ukraine.

A sharp statement came from Luigi Di Maio, the head of Italian diplomacy, who reminded the Russian ambassador of the total censorship imposed in their country by Vladimir Putin. The Italian Foreign Ministry rejected Moscow’s statements about the biased and “unethical way” coverage of the war in Ukraine in the Italian media and demanded an explanation from him.

Ettore Secui, Secretary General of the Italian Foreign Ministry, dismissed the Russian government’s claims and said Moscow’s references to an “organized Italian media campaign against Russia” were unfounded.

Russian Ambassador to Italy Sergei Razov named the dominant line of the Italian media is unfriendly and pointed to the unacceptable statements of officials against Russia. This is stated in the message of the diplomatic department, distributed on June 6, after he was summoned to the Italian Foreign Ministry.
