The weather has been deteriorating since Wednesday afternoon, according to an emergency bulletin from the National Weather Service EMY.
According to the forecast, from the afternoon of Wednesday May 18, 2022 until the morning hours of Thursday May 19, the weather in the western, central and northern parts of the country will show a temporary deterioration: heavy rains and thunderstorms may be accompanied by hail, strong winds and a noticeable drop in temperature. More specific:
1. On Wednesday (18-04-2022) heavy rains with thunderstorms will pass in places:
a) From the afternoon hours in eastern Macedonia and Thrace, and gradually in central, western Macedonia and the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean.
b) In the afternoon, the effects will spread further south and affect Thessaly, Sporades, central and northern Evia, central Sterea, temporarily Epirus and western Sterea.
c) The eastern mainland (including Attica) will be affected at night.
On Thursday (19-04-2022) until the morning hours, in some places, heavy rains and thunderstorms will take place in central Macedonia, Thessaly, Sporades, on the islands of the eastern Aegean, Evia and eastern Sterea. Gradually adverse natural phenomena will weaken.
2. From Wednesday afternoon (18-04-2022) to Thursday 19-04-22, a northerly gale from 7 to 8 Beaufort will prevail.
3. In the next two days, the air temperature will drop significantly, starting from the north of Greece and reaching the southern part of it. A decline of 6-8 degrees is expected.
