Lake Kupa Skra in Kilkis (λίμνη Κούπα-Σκρα στο Κιλκίς) is located very close to the city, but is safely hidden in the dense forest. The area is home to the waterfalls of the same name, which are a favorite place for swimming during the summer months. Lake Koopa Skra is also called Blue Lake because of its color. The color of the water is given by the fossils at the bottom. Of course the photos can give you a rough idea of the beauty of the lake. But the powerful energy of nature, which you will feel there, cannot be conveyed by anything.
Getting to the “emerald secret” of Greece and Central Macedonia is easy. If you are in the Kilkis area and intend to visit the lake, you should take the road to Axioupolis. From there you will travel to the villages of Koopa and Panos. Finally, following the signs for “Waterfalls”, move on. At some point, you will have to leave the car and walk along the path. Your route will be accompanied by wooden bridges, stone steps and unique natural landscapes. At the end of the route you will see a clearing and a stream of water that will lead you to Lake Kupa Skra itself.
