Today, the DPR announced the complete blockade of Mariupol, Greek citizens are being evacuated (updated)

On March 2, Eduard Basurin, a representative of the People’s Militia of the DPR, announced the blockade of the Ukrainian city of Mariupol. On the air of the Russia 24 TV channel, he said:

“One of the most combat-ready Ukrainian groups is surrounded in the city. Everything is going as planned. Mariupol is blocked. The troops will continue to move in the direction that will help us finally stop the shelling of residential areas of settlements not only here, but also among our neighbors in Luhansk.”

Basurin notes that within 2-3 days the further development of the situation in Mariupol will become clear. Negotiations are planned, during which the DPR will “persuade the enemy to lay down their arms, surrender or leave the city so that the civilian population does not suffer.”

Also Basurin, according to the publication “News”warned of an impending humanitarian catastrophe in the city due to blackouts and food shortages:

“We need to do everything so that people do not suffer, which is why we said that we were opening humanitarian corridors. If, after all, there is a normal consciousness that they will allow the civilian population to leave the city, this would make the path easier for us. If not, then, I think, negotiations, but no one canceled the special operation.”

Yesterday, Basurin announced the final stage of the encirclement of Mariupol by the DPR troops with the support of the Russian army. The deputy head of the People’s Militia Department noted that the RF Armed Forces and the People’s Militia of the DPR are organizing two humanitarian corridors for the departure of civilians from Mariupol. According to him, the city can be left until March 2.

According to him, the leadership of the DPR hopes that the Ukrainian military will be able to disarm the nationalists who are in Mariupol. With such a development of events, the lives of many thousands of civilians will be saved.
