In vain we endured lockdowns – scientists from the USA recognized them as useless

Inefficiency and futility – this is how scientists from Johns Hopkins University assess the introduction of lockdowns after completing their study.

As the publication writes “Kommersant”, a study by American scientists says that lockdowns have demonstrated their futility and minimal effectiveness. In European countries and the United States, they reduced coronavirus deaths by a measly 0.2% and caused huge social and economic consequences. The publication quotes:

“According to the results of the meta-analysis, it was concluded that the lockdowns had a minimal, if not close to zero, effect on the health status of the population. But where they have been introduced, they have incurred enormous economic and social costs.”

Experts are sure that the introduction of lockdowns is an absolutely useless measure that should be abandoned. More effective, according to the authors of the study, self-isolation of the sick. Given all the pros and cons of such a measure, it has reduced the death rate from coronavirus by 2.9%. Among the minuses is an increase in the concentration of infection, so self-isolation negatively affects the family of an isolated patient.

According to experts, the lockdowns limited people’s access to safe places – parks and beaches, or included the mandatory use of masks there. Scientists also emphasize that lockdowns have led to an increase in unemployment, a decrease in the quality of the educational process, an increase in cases of domestic violence and drug overdoses. In the US, for example, from May 2020 to April 2021, overdose deaths increased by 28.5% year-on-year to 78,056 deaths. And cases of domestic violence increased by 8.1%.
