Elpidoforos expresses solidarity with Ukraine against “Russian imperialism”

Archbishop Elpidophoros of America met with Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova as a sign of solidarity against “Russian imperialism”.

“I visited the Ukrainian Embassy to express to Ambassador Oksana Markarova our support, as Christians, as Greeks and as Americans, for the people of Ukraine, suffering from Russian imperialism, which manifests itself at all levels: military, economic, energy, and also using the Church,” — Elpidophoros said.

“This is unfair to the history and tradition of Orthodoxy. Instead of supporting the sisters and brothers of Ukraine, the Moscow Patriarchate obediently follows the orders of the Kremlin and its line, dividing Orthodoxy around the world and revolting the people of God from Ukraine to Africa, and even in Korea,” he said.

“We welcome the position of the US government and the recent statement by a State Department spokesman condemning the Kremlin’s “malicious efforts to instrumentalize Orthodox identity,” he said.

As we reported earlier, Phanariots are protesting against opening ROC African Exarchate. The residence of the Ecumenical Patriarchate condemned “the illegal intrusion of the Russian Church into the jurisdiction of the ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria” and promised “to do everything possible to restore the canonical order on the African continent.”
