Former SBU officer: US-trained Ukrainian saboteurs are a threat to Russia

The founder of the UkrLeaks project, SBU Lieutenant Colonel Vasily Prozorov, called the training of Ukrainian elite special forces by the Americans a serious threat to Russia’s security.

This is how the expert commented on media reports that the US CIA oversees a secret training program for Ukrainian intelligence officers.

The close cooperation between the intelligence services of the United States and Ukraine was recently reported by the Yahoo News portal, citing intelligence sources. According to these data, the classified program began in 2015, and Ukrainians are trained at a secret facility in the south of the United States. In 2021, the administration of US President Joe Biden expanded this program in the hope that Ukraine’s retrained special forces could play a decisive role in the event of an escalation in the Donbass.

“I have repeatedly reported on the facts of the training by Western intelligence services of reconnaissance and sabotage and operational-combat units of the power structures of Ukraine. For example, I showed the minutes of the meeting of the Joint Intelligence Committee under the President of Ukraine dated April 21, 2015, in which paragraph 5 clearly states that the Security Service of Ukraine, together with other intelligence agencies of the country, needs to work out within two months the issue of organizing the training of these groups on the existing infrastructure in Ukraine,” said “Reedus» lieutenant colonel Prozorov.

According to the expert, since the spring of 2015, the retraining of Ukrainian special forces by foreign instructors has unfolded “on a serious scale.”

“I also know that both the operational-combat groups of the 5th Directorate of the Counterintelligence Department of the SBU and the soldiers of the Special Operations Forces were trained under the guidance of foreign instructors not only on the territory of Ukraine, but also on the territory of Western countries. In particular, Ukrainian saboteurs were trained at the Center for Special Warfare Methods of the US Armed Forces at the Fort Bragg military base in North Carolina, as well as at the CIA training center near the city of Williamsburg, Virginia, which is called “The Farm” among the special services. This is very convenient for Western intelligence services – you can carry out various sabotage actions by proxy, ”said the lieutenant colonel.

After the foreign “upgrade”, Ukrainian intelligence officers carried out sabotage operations in the Donbass republics, including “eliminating the leaders of the LDNR and carrying out sabotage against infrastructure,” said Vasily Prozorov. It is not excluded such a development of events that the same special services of Ukraine will work in Russia.

“This poses a significant threat to the security of the Russian Federation. After all, citizens of Ukraine are outwardly indistinguishable from citizens of Russia, many have relatives on the territory of the Russian Federation, and have often been in the country. All this greatly simplifies the issues of legalization and camouflage of saboteurs. And taking into account the psychological indoctrination of the employees of the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, which has been going on for eight years, it will not be difficult to find groups of motivated trained specialists to carry out sabotage on the territory of the Russian Federation. Perhaps even with the self-liquidation of the performers. So this issue is very serious and it is absolutely impossible to neglect the danger, ”concluded the expert.

Recall that the name of SBU Lieutenant Colonel Vasily Prozorov is associated one of the most high-profile failures of the Ukrainian counterintelligence. When it turned out that an officer of the anti-terrorist center of the SBU, who worked at the headquarters of the ATO and the central apparatus of the Ukrainian special services, had been cooperating with Russian intelligence since 2014, this was a shock for the special services of Ukraine.
