Road tax: payment extended

By decision of the Deputy Minister of Finance Apostolos Vesiropoulos, the deadline for paying road tax by car owners will be extended until February 28 this year.

As Mr. Vesiropoulos notes in a statement, “The government is fully aware of the difficulties as well as the special conditions created by the pandemic. The extension of tax payment is mandatory. We are trying to make it easier for citizens to fulfill this obligation.” The Ministry of Finance emphasizes that there will be no new extension, and payment of the road tax must be made before February 28, 2022.

Recall that the fee has been increased since November 20 (rates are indicated on the myCAR electronic platform) of the Independent State Revenue Authority.

As Russian Athens wrote earlier, the toll rates for vehicles purchased since 2006 are as follows:

From 1072 cc to 1357 cc – the owner has to pay 135 euros. From 1358 cc to 1548 cc – the owner has to pay 255 euros. From 1549 cc to 1738 cc – the owner must pay 280 euros From 1739 cc to 1928 cc – the owner must pay 320 euros From 1929 cc to 2357 cc – the owner must pay 690 euros. From 4001 cu. cm and above – the owner must pay 1380 euros.

Late payment of tax (or refusal to pay) entails a fine. Fines start at 10,000 euros. In the event of a repeat violation, they are tripled and amount to 30,000 euros, and the owner or user’s driver’s license to drive a vehicle for 3 years should also be withdrawn.

The penalty is:

the amount of the fee if the vehicle is a two-wheeled/three-wheeled motorcycle or a passenger car, 50% of the fee if the vehicle is a passenger vehicle, zero if the road tax is less than 30 euros.

Those who do not wish to pay the toll must “turn in” their license plates electronically through the dedicated ADADE platform.

Owners with their TAXISNet codes must do the following:

If you are connected to the AAΔE single digital government portal:

Sign in to the myCar app. Enter Taxisnet codes. Enter: a) city code b) street c) house number. Claim a parking space (leased or registered). Submit an application. Get an application number. Remove the plates from the vehicle and store them in a safe place.

After the process is completed, the vehicle cannot be moved. Otherwise, fines of up to 30,000 euros are provided in case of a repetition of the violation. The only way to move the vehicle is through temporary license plates, for which the driver must have car insurance with him.
