The Greek Ministry of Health has forcibly mobilized pathologists, pulmonologists and therapists to work in covid departments of hospitals in Northern Greece in order to “strengthen the national health system in the face of a pandemic.”
A total of 90 doctors have been called in to provide their services to hospitals treating Covid-19 since early Thursday morning.
The Medical Association of Thessaloniki has sharply criticized the government’s decision to force the mobilization of doctors to hospitals in the city and Central Macedonia.
The IAU statement says the same mistakes are being made as in last October’s mobilization, emphasizing that forced mobilization means the private clinics where these medics work must suspend work, and noting that accommodation and travel arrangements are not made. those ordered to travel outside their area of residence.
The Thessaloniki Medical Association describes the entire procedure as “Waterloo”.
