A 67-year-old local was arrested by officers from the Platanias police department in Crete on Sunday evening, as an investigation showed that the culprit smuggled 220 kg of avocado from agricultural land.
According to a police press release: “A local resident accused of theft was detained on 12.12.2021 at night in the area of Platanias municipality by police officers. The citizen was arrested for embezzling 220 kg of avocado. The Platanias Police Department is conducting a preliminary investigation. “
A case was initiated against the 67-year-old man, he was taken to the prosecutor’s office. Considering that the price of 1 kg of avocado reaches 4.75 euros, then the Cretan could well have enriched himself in the amount of about a thousand euros.
