At a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, a joint action plan for 2022-2024 was adopted.
One of its points is devoted to the promotion of the study of languages - Russian in Greece and Modern Greek in Russia. TASS… The doc says:
“The parties intend to promote the study of Russian and Greek languages in the educational organizations of the parties.”
Cooperation and interaction between Moscow and Athens in this area will be expressed in methodological assistance, organizational support of language and culture departments in educational institutions. Special attention will be paid to translations of contemporary Greek and Russian literature.
There is an important agreement – to recognize government-issued documents confirming the level of language proficiency. To obtain them, in both countries, testing for knowledge of the Modern Greek language in the Russian Federation and Russian in Greece will be organized.
