Piraeus: tram operation will start on Wednesday

From Monday December 6, there will be changes in the operation of the tram network. And from Wednesday, December 8, the Piraeus line will be put into operation.

In particular, the existing three lines (3, 4 and 5) are being modified, and two new ones will now be added to the general tram network. These are line 6 “Pikrodafni-Syntagma” and line 7 “Asklipio Voulas-Akti Poseidonos (Piraeus)”.

The transfer between the two lines will take place at the Pikrodafni stop (located on Poseidonos Avenue between the Edem and Marina Alimu stops).

As for the extension of the tram line to Piraeus, it initially includes 11 new stops:

Γήπεδο Καραϊσκάκη, Μικράς Ασίας, Λαμπράκη, Ευαγγελίστρια, Πλατεία λατεία Δεληγιάννη, Δημαρχείο, Αγίαε Πεζικού, Ανδρούτσου, Ομηρίδου Σκυλίτση.

And the 12th stop is expected to be operational in the near future and will be called “Akti Poseidonos”, which will become the new terminal of line 7.

With the operation of the two new lines, according to the STASY management, fixed time distances are formed throughout the network. In particular, the frequency of movement of rolling stock is set from 07:00 to 19:00 (9 minutes on weekdays and 12 minutes on weekends).

The duration of the Syntagma-Picrodafni route is 33 minutes, the Pikrodafni-Syntagma route – 35 minutes, the Asklipio Voulas-Agia Triada route – 57 minutes.

The tram fleet has been replenished with 25 new modern vehicles.
