ΗΣΑΠ sadly reports about the tragic death of its employee during the planned work this morning. Two more are injured.
Early Tuesday morning, November 16, there was a tragic accident while grinding work on the 1st metro line. In the line of duty, a master was fatally injured and two more employees received minor injuries.
According to initial information, the damage occurred in a machine that is used for specialized grinding work. This led to the fatal injury of the 41-year-old Greek master.
The accident occurred on line 1 when the brakes on a special grinder vehicle, starting from Kifissia, began to fail and it began to move uncontrollably at speeds of up to 60 km / h. As a result, the car collided with a train in the area of Agios Nikolaos station, which was supplied by the competent STASY service to stop it.
According to Nikos Hayretas, Managing Director of the City Rail Transport Company (STASY), the other two workers, fortunately, were not seriously injured and were taken to the hospital in Gennimata.
