The decision is being viewed in light of the sharp rise in coronavirus cases, as well as deaths reaching 80 within 24 hours, according to the latest information from EODY.
This week, the government will focus on strengthening the national health care system, which is under great pressure. This will be done in partnership with the private sector, with the addition of beds in private hospitals.
Also, doctors will be urgently recruited to coronavirus departments. If they do not come voluntarily by Tuesday, according to the ultimatum of the official representative of the government, Yannis Oikonomou, then the mobilization will take place on Tuesday by force.
What new measures are being considered:

New cases of coronavirus were reported by EODY on Sunday 14 November. According to the information, 80 new deaths were registered in Greece over the past day, 536 intubated patients were registered in the intensive care units of the country’s hospitals. There are 3869 new cases in total.
Specifically, according to the EODY report:
New laboratory confirmed cases of the disease are 3869, of which 12 were detected after checks at the country’s customs posts. The total number of cases is 831,874 (daily change + 0.5%), of which 50.7% are men. Based on confirmed cases in the last 7 days, 118 cases are considered to be related to travel from abroad, and 2,885 to a known case. There are 80 new deaths of patients with COVID-19, with a total of 16,766 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic. 95.3% had an underlying disease and / or were 70 years of age or older. The number of patients who underwent intubation was 536 people (60.8% of men). Their average age is 65. 84.1% have an underlying disease and / or are 70 years of age or older. Among intubated patients, 446 (83.21%) were not vaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 90 (16.79%) were fully vaccinated. Since the start of the pandemic, 3,400 patients have been discharged from intensive care units. Admission of new patients with Covid-19 to hospitals in the region – 419 (daily shift + 1.45%). The average number of patients hospitalized for seven days is 416. The average age of the patients is 38 years (from 0.2 to 106 years), and the average age of the deceased is 78 years (from 0.2 to 106 years).
