What is he, the opponent of vaccination – the results of the study

Scientists from the University of Barcelona and the City University of New York have compiled a portrait of a typical vaccine opponent. The results of their work are published in Scientific Reports.

Only 8% of the Greek population is extremely negative about vaccination – this is how it showed latest nationwide survey Focus Bari | YouGov. This figure has decreased significantly compared to previous months. Overall, 81% of those surveyed said yes to vaccinations. Some of them have already been vaccinated, others have had their first vaccination or made an appointment – such 77%. And the rest are determined to visit the vaccination center in the very near future (4%). Among the remaining 19%, every tenth respondent (11%) says that they are “hesitant or have not decided yet”, and 8% are “negative” and do not intend to get vaccinated.

Scientific Reports: Low-Income People Do Not Want to Be Vaccinated Against Coronavirus

According to RIA Novosti, citing the authors of the study, every fifth American refuses to be vaccinated against coronavirus, doubting the effectiveness and safety of the vaccine, and also not realizing the seriousness of the disease itself.

The large-scale study involved 6037 residents of large American cities: Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Dallas. Among the participants are those who have already been vaccinated, have not yet been vaccinated, but plan to do so, and categorically deny the very possibility of administering the drug.

An analysis of the results showed that more than 20% of respondents are not sure about the safety of drugs and doubt that the coronavirus really poses a threat. Most often this opinion was expressed by people with low incomes, working outside the home and adhering to conservative political views.

More supporters of vaccination among people who have had COVID-19 and have sick relatives. Most of them believe that vaccinations are best done in a clinic. 82-90% of respondents agreed with the serious threat of coronavirus. Confidence in vaccine developers was expressed by 72-85% of respondents.

Vaccination remains the only reliable way to protect yourself from coronavirus, said earlier the head of the Russian Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko. He noted that the proportion of those vaccinated among seriously ill COVID-19 in Russian hospitals is less than 0.03%, the vast majority are unvaccinated. And the World Health Organization in September warned of a direct link between SARS-CoV-2 mortality and vaccine refusal.
