Restrictions at the PACE session for the Russian delegation called discriminatory

The Russian Foreign Ministry called the restrictions imposed on the entry and stay of the Russian delegation at the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe because of Sputnik V as discriminatory.

As early as September 23, it became known, the newspaper reports. Newsthat the members of the Russian delegation will not be able to move freely due to the fact that the Sputnik V vaccine is not recognized in Europe. The Russian Foreign Ministry said on September 29:

“We have always been sympathetic to the sanitary restrictions that individual countries are forced to impose in order to counter the spread of coronavirus infection. At the same time, the regime of entry and stay of Russian official delegations in force in France cannot be described otherwise than as discriminatory. “

According to the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, RIA Novosti reports, it is also about the representatives of Russia who are in Strasbourg to participate in the events of the Council of Europe, including its Parliamentary Assembly. They drew attention to the fact that the procedure for obtaining an entry permit for Russian representatives is too complicated, and they are allowed to move only from the hotel to the meeting place. Going out to the city is prohibited:

“In fact, Russian delegations are forced to work in a remote format, which puts them in a deliberately unequal position in comparison with representatives of other countries.”

The reason for such problems is the Russian drug “Sputnik V”, notes the department that the delegation members are vaccinated with:

“We see here rather an attempt to create a competitive advantage for Western vaccines and pharmaceutical companies.”
