Water supply interruptions to the northern outskirts of Athens

The Greek water supply service EYDAP asks residents of the northern regions and suburbs of the Greek capital, if possible, to reduce the use of water due to the fact that it is necessary to extinguish numerous fires.

In particular, several cases of interruptions in the water supply of mountainous regions and in the northern suburbs, such as Dionysos, Kifisia, Melissia, Penteli, Drafi, Marousi, Pefki, Varibobi, Ippokratio Politias, Polidendri due to power outages water treatment plants in Polidendri, as well as increased water consumption for extinguishing fires.

EYDAP makes every effort to minimize the inconvenience to consumers. However, the fire is currently in full swing, so EYDAP recommends that residents of the above areas consume water with the utmost care.

The company is in constant contact and full cooperation with the operational forces operating in the area, aiming to quickly restore the full operation of the Polidendri wastewater treatment plant.

As we previously reported, Greek Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO) has warned of controlled rolling blackouts in Athens and Attica to avoid blackout. The plan goes into effect today, Friday 6 August 2021.
