Two fire fronts move towards Parnifa and Tatoi

Firefighters are fighting already with two fronts of fire in the area the foot of Parnifa… One in the gorge between Adames and Tata airport, and the other on the outskirts of Kryoneri.

The wind directs the fronts of fire towards Ippokratio Politias and Drosopigi. For this reason, the service warnings 112 reported emergencies to the residents of Ippokratio Politias, who were asked to leave their homes and drive to the Athens-Lamia National Road area, while the residents of Drosopigi were asked to go to the Afidnes area.

Residents were reluctant to leave their homes, Oropu Mayor Georgios Giasimakis told SKAI. According to Mr. Giasimakis, these are residents of 607 houses with a population of about 1,000 in Ippokratio Politias.

Currently, more than 200 firefighters are involved in extinguishing the fire. Five helicopters are currently operating in Adames and one aircraft is expected, and two helicopters are operating in Kryoneri.

The authorities fear that the fire may go into the mountains of Parnifa National Park, where it will be extremely difficult to extinguish it.
