Tsitsipas’s grandmother breathed her last 5 minutes before the final match between Tsitsipas and Serb Novak Djokovic at the Roland Garros French Open.
Stefanos Tsitsipas said on Instagram:
“My beloved grandmother lost the battle for her life. A wise woman whose faith in life and willingness to share is unmatched by any other person I have ever met. “
The athlete added that he devotes the final match to her. Tsitsipas also thanked his grandmother for raising his father, thanks to whom he was able to achieve such results in sports.
On Sunday 13 June, Stefanos Tsitsipas lost in the final of Roland Garros to Serb Novak Djokovic. The match ended with a score of 6: 7, 2: 6, 6: 3, 6: 2 6: 4.
