With the arrival of the Mein Schiff 5 cruise ship at the port of Souda (Chania, Crete), the cruise period has “opened”.
The liner can accommodate about 1000 people on board, many of whom will make organized excursions to the areas of Chania. Strict sanitary protocol measures are applied upon arrival of the vessel at the port, as well as during its stay.
The port authorities, in cooperation with the competent authorities, have taken the necessary measures to ensure the safe arrival of foreign passengers in Crete, which confirms the successful restart of the industry in terms of servicing all cruise ships that requested it, in turn offering quality services and contributing to the development of the tourism product.
The Malaysian-flagged vessel Mein Schiff 5, which will set sail at 19:00, was built in 2016.
Its arrival marks the official start of the cruise season in Chania, where 80 cruise ships are expected to arrive by December, according to the port authorities (Λιμενικού Ταμείου).
“We are confident that all our guests will love the unique Greek destinations,” said Greek Minister of Tourism Haris Theocharis.
