Athenians are preparing for the holidays in droves and are actively booking villas through Airbnb for Easter. In Attica, 80% of the available short-term rental housing is filled.
Thousands of people are already packing their bags to go on vacation outside the city.
In connection with the decision of the government not to allow travel outside the region on Easter, as well as good weather, according to the forecasts of meteorologists, a new trend has developed during several days during Holy Week.
The areas to look out for for Easter holidays nearby are the coastal line of Attica, from Varkiza, Lagonisi, Saronida, Anavyssos to Legrana, Sounion and Porto Rafti.
“There are too many rental requests, especially recently, and within the beaches, from Varkiza to Porto Rafti,” explains iefimerida.gr Andreas Chios, president of the Panhellenic Association of Property Managers (PASYDA), which specializes in short-term rentals like Airbnb.
Easter on Airbnb: 80% to 100% of booking
“It all started in the last two to three days,” adds Mr. Chios, indirectly linking this trend to the government’s official announcement that Easter this year will also be “behind closed doors”. According to the PASYDA President, “In many of these areas, reservations have already reached 80% and are likely to grow to 100%. The demand is very high, compared to other years, the trend is incredibly increasing. “
What’s in demand from Airbnb for Easter this year?
“Most are looking for properties with 4, 5 or even 6 rooms. This allows us to conclude that this is a large family or even two families, ”emphasizes Andreas Chios.
The President of PASYDA believes that the main criterion for choosing real estate in connection with the traditions for Easter is “the presence of a garden and a barbecue. This category of our clients is not looking for apartments (apartments), but villas and houses. They want to spend Easter outdoors, in nature.”
Regarding Holy Week short-term rental prices, Andreas Chios notes that “they are at the same level as in 2019. Standard request – for 2-3 nights, from Holy Saturday to Easter Monday. “
According to him, “prices start from 100-150 euros for a three-bedroom villa, and for a 4-bedroom villa – from 300 to 400 euros per night. The price rises depending on the area, how close it is to the sea. If this is an elite real estate, then the rental price can reach from 1000 to 1500 euros per night. “
