Pandemic Chronicles: April 17, 2,411 new cases, 837 intubated, 67 deaths

Today, Saturday 17 April, the National Public Health Organization announced 2,411 new cases of Covid-19 in Greece. For the previous day, 3067 cases were registered. At the same time, according to EODY, 837 patients were intubated in intensive care units, 67 new deaths were registered.

As a reminder, the maximum number of cases reported by EODY in one day was announced on March 30, 2021, when 4340 infected were detected in 24 hours. The largest number of deaths due to the virus per day was recorded on Saturday 28 November, when 121 patients died.

New laboratory confirmed cases of the disease registered in the last 24 hours amount to 2,411, of which 7 were detected after checks upon entry into the country. The total number of cases is 313 444 (daily change + 0.8%), of which 51.3% are men. Based on confirmed cases in the last 7 days, 59 are considered to be related to travel from abroad, and 3265 to a known case. The daily dynamics of the pandemic is as follows (the line represents the overall cumulative distribution of cases).

There are 67 new deaths among COVID-19 patients, with a total of 9397 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic. 95.5% had an underlying disease and / or were 70 years of age or older.
