“The quarantine is not enforced in Thessaloniki,” says the mayor of the city, Konstantinos Zervas.
As he said on the air of the radio station THEMA 104.6, the population is very tired not only psychologically, but also financially, which makes it difficult for people to maintain discipline. At the same time, epidemiological data are deteriorating day by day.
The Mayor of Thessaloniki has proposed a “click away controlled retail opening” to alleviate the economic and social situation. He stressed that “the easing of quarantine measures is better directed”, as has been done with regard to hairdressing salons.
As explained by Mr. Zervas, people can no longer be blamed. Every day, he said, the municipality collects from parks, gardens and beaches about 2,000,000 giant bags of garbage from the groups that gather there. “There are youth companies that gather in parks and order pizza with an impromptu picnic. I do not point a finger at them, I understand the degree of fatigue of the population, ”the mayor said.
As for the vaccination course, he noted that “everything is going according to plan”, but the number of vaccines is small.
