At the plant of the American company Johnson & Johnson, in the American Baltimore, a manufacturing error was made in the manufacture of a vaccine against COVID-19. Workers missed the dosage of the drug’s ingredients, causing 15 million doses to be rejected, according to The New York Times.
The Baltimore facility is undergoing a thorough review by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). At the same time, it is reported that the batches of vaccines already received in the US clinics are safe, since they were manufactured in the Netherlands, at the facilities of Johnson & Johnson.
The following batches were to be sent to medical facilities from the Baltimore facility, but a mistake was made in mixing the components of the drug. This will inevitably lead to a disruption in the delivery schedule, as the reasons for what happened are being checked and the enterprise is temporarily out of operation.
Bloomberg clarifies that this happened at the Emergent BioSolutions Inc plant, while it has not yet been certified by the FDA to manufacture the drug Johnson & Johnson.
