On March 26, Moscow will host an online conference dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Greek People’s Revolution of 1821, organized by the Greek-Russian-Cypriot Friendship Association. It should be noted that this is the first official event in the framework of the year dedicated to the history of Russia and Greece and the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Greek revolution. The conference will be attended by prominent politicians, deputies, diplomats, scientists and clergy from the Russian and Greek sides. The scientific and social program of the conference includes the present and the future of Greek-Russian relations, as well as the historical significance of the National Liberation Revolution of the Greek people. At the same time, the prospects for the development of bilateral relations and the search for new ways of their development will be discussed in detail. It is expected that following the conference, a resolution will be sent to the leaderships and societies of the two countries, which will contain specific proposals for the development of cooperation between Athens and Moscow. In fact, this conference is a forum of public diplomacy and one of many initiatives undertaken by Georgy Muradov, a famous Hellenist, former Russian ambassador to Cyprus and president of the Friendship Association, on Russia-Greece-Cyprus relations. Recall that a memorandum on the joint proclamation of 2021 dedicated to the history of Greece and Russia was signed in October 2020, during the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to Athens.
