This year, in honor of the full moon on August 22, Greece has traditionally scheduled free festive events – this year there are 52 of them (concerts, theater performances, exhibitions, film screenings, etc.), admission to which is free for everyone.
The Acropolis Museum will celebrate the August full moon by extending the opening hours of the museum and restaurant to the weekend of August 21 and 22.
A total of 120 museums and archaeological sites throughout Greece will be open to the public on the full moon evening on Sunday 22 August.
In addition, 53 locations will host various events from 20 to 25 August, including concerts, film screenings, theater performances, poetry readings and guided tours.
Troupakis Fortress – Murtsina in Kardamili was chosen as the theme of the poster. There 200 years ago, at the beginning of 1821, Theodoros Kolokotronis was preparing for the start of the revolution.
This year will see mainly music concerts, theater performances, dance performances, poetry recitation, documentary screenings, art exhibitions, stargazing and excursions. Most of the events will take place in collaboration with local authorities as well as cultural and landscape associations.
Events and visits by the population to archaeological sites and museums will be conducted in accordance with the applicable safety protocols that have been drawn up for each archaeological site and museum in the context of limiting the spread of COVID 19, compliance with applicable security measures during their implementation.

Visitors can also visit the restaurant until midnight, where they can watch the moon while dining or drinking on the outdoor terrace. Requires pre-order at the restaurant by phone 210 9000915.
On Sunday (August 22), the museum halls will be open from 8:00 to 22:00. The restaurant operates on the same schedule. The museum’s archaeologists will present a story about the collection in Greek (20:00) and English (18:00). Guided tours are 60 minutes and registration is required as places are limited to 10 (each language has 2 presentations at the same time).
Registration is required on the same day, at the museum’s information desk, and participants must already pay an entry fee of € 10.
Health Requirements: Wear a mask (not provided by the museum) and have a personal audio system with headphones (provided by the museum).
