More than half of Israel’s new coronavirus cases are in children. 10 days after Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year), the number of serious COVID cases peaked on September 18.
More than half of the newly infected are children. Schoolchildren were obliged to take a test after returning from vacation, the Times of Israel reports on a government committee decision. Only those with a negative result will be admitted to classes.
As officially reported by the Ministry of Health, 7,500 Israeli citizens tested positive for COVID-19 last Saturday, 59% of them are school-age children. As of Sunday, 45,000 children are sick, 92,000 are in quarantine after contact with the infected.
Holidays at schools in the country will end on September 30. As of Sunday morning, 33% of Israel’s population, 3,040,426 people, have already received their third booster dose of the vaccine.
