Erdogan Karakush, a retired Turkish general, has revealed the command’s plans in the event of hostilities between Ankara and the Hellenic Republic.
His words lead RIA Newswhile covering political debates on CNN Turk. Karakush said the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki would be the first target of a ground operation in the alleged conflict.
The general recalled that 20 American bases are located on Greek territory, one of which is in Thrace, near Alexandroupolis. Karakush claims that it is fully equipped and capable of blocking the Turkish army’s ground attack.
As for the actions of Athens in the event of a war between the two countries, Karakush is sure that the goal of the Greek military will be the capture of Istanbul.
