Rally Greece WRC, which took place this weekend in the Greek capital, has come to an end. Finn Kalle Rovanpera, having won a convincing victory in 9 out of 15 special stages, climbed the rally Olympus in a Toyota car.
The young driver was only 42.1 seconds ahead of his rival Ott Tänak in the Hyundai i20 WRC from Estonia (2019 World Champion), in third place was Sebastien Ogier from France, 1.11.3 minutes behind the winner. However, Ogier was quite enough third place in order to strengthen the leadership in the championship.
At the ninth stage of the FIA WRC World Championship in Athens, the 20-year-old Finn confidently took the lead on Friday, on the first full day of races, and did not concede it, winning 9 special stages, including a bonus one. This is Rovanpera’s second WRC victory, his first in July at the Rally Kenya. At the finish, he said:
“Many thanks to the team for the excellent work – the car behaved just perfectly. The rally was tough, but we avoided problems. I hope we will be as fast in Finland. “
The tenth round of the 2021 season will take place in Finland from October 1 to October 3.
