The noisy earthquake in Thebes was felt in many parts of Attica

An earthquake of 4 on the Richter scale was recorded at 08:48 Greek time this morning near the city of Thebes.

The earthquake was recorded by the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens. Its epicenter was 52 km northwest of Athens, 2 km northeast of the city of Thebes. The source depth was 10.3 km. As noted by eyewitnesses, the earthquake was accompanied by a noticeable noise. The tremors were felt by the inhabitants of Athens. Director of the Geodynamic Institute, seismologist Akis Tselentis notes:

“Residents need to be very careful with buildings. This is an earthquake with a shallow source depth, which became very noticeable and even had a loud noise. It had a strength of 4 on the Richter scale and a focal depth of 5 kilometers. Every earthquake that occurs in Thebes worries us because the structural fabric of the city has been significantly weighed down by the numerous earthquakes that have occurred in the city in recent years. We are also concerned that there are big mistakes with a bad historical background in the wider field. Residents should be especially careful with buildings. “
