Kastoria: criminals seized with 65 kg of cannabis

Five Albanians and a Greek woman were arrested during a large-scale police operation to combat drug trafficking.

More than 65 kg of cannabis were seized by the police in the Kastoria region, resulting in the arrest of five Albanians and a Greek woman who are accused of trafficking in drugs that were supposed to be smuggled into Greece.

On the morning of August 15, during a police operation, a vehicle was found and immobilized. The car, which was driven by a 29-year-old driver, found four travel bags with raw hemp totaling 63 kg and 850 grams, as well as 1.5 kg of processed hemp (in the form of tiles).

During the same operation, two more cars were detained, carrying five people (between 29 and 33 years old) who acted as “observers” and informed the 29-year-old man about any police checks along the way.

As it turned out, all those arrested live in Greece. A search of the home of a 29-year-old driver, a resident of Kilkis, found 200 grams of cannabis.

The operation was carried out by employees of the prosecutor’s office for the fight against drugs of Kastoria. The arrested were taken to the local prosecutor’s office.
