Arrest for illegal camping and drugs

Six people were arrested for drug offenses and illegal camping in the protected area of ​​Lake Preveli, municipality of Agios Vassilios in Rethymno.

In particular, five Greeks, two men and three women, as well as a foreign woman were arrested. This area is included in the NATURA program and is defined as area of ​​special natural beauty… During an inspection by the police, one of the Greeks was found to have some cannabis, a bag weighing 39.5 grams.

Investigative measures against the arrested are carried out by the Rethymno Drug Control Department, in cooperation with the Police Department of Ag. Vassilios.

At the same time, in the areas of the municipality of Mylopotamos, in Rethymno, cannabis seedlings were found, a total of 96 plants up to 3 meters high, which were uprooted and destroyed. An investigation is currently underway to find and arrest the criminals, the owners of the “plantation”.
