Horror in Turkey: only numbers

To see a holistic picture of the largest earthquake disaster in Turkey, you need to look at the “dry numbers”, read – the facts.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale occurred in the morning of February 6, when people were sleeping, were in their homes. An area of 14,000 sq. km. According to preliminary (official) data, 6,000 buildings collapsed as a result of seismic activity.

Rescuers from 45 foreign countries arrived to help people buried under the rubble, in total 85 detachments (7-13 people each). Erdogan provided 9,000 troops for rescue work (strange, why only a part?).

It should be noted that 25 people (3 teams of professional rescuers) arrived from Greece to the disaster area, including search dogs. It is emphasized that dogs trained to search living people under the rubble and “report” about it. Why I want to talk about this separately is because (just think about it!) Despite the fact that 16,000 people died (and only about 200,000 may be under the rubble) and active searches for victims were saved, only … 58 people! (Data on the 4th day of the disaster).

The leadership is held by the Greeks: on their account 5 rescued (We have already discussed these cases in detail earlier).

When a dog discovers a body under the rubble, every minute counts. And if the four-legged “policemen” reacted to everyone (for example, the deceased), time would be lost to save the living.

However, these data are enough to realize the whole tragic picture of the disaster.
