New York City is actively looking for a man for the position of killer of rats. The applicant must be “bloodthirsty”, and not only.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams defined the criteria for the candidate: a “bloodthirsty” worker is needed who would destroy parasites “wholesale”, according to the news site of the metropolis Gothamist. Mayor says:
“Nothing I hate more than rats. If you have the drive, determination and killer instinct to fight New York’s relentless rat population, then you’ve got the job of your dreams.”
Officially, the position of the killer of rats is called quite prestigiously: “Director of rodent control.” His salary will be $120-170 thousand a year, and he will report to the deputy mayor for operational work. The job ad uses some very original expressions:
“As the leader of the rat pack, you will work with your counterparts in the city government as you travel through the five burrows.”
The requirements for the applicant are also original – some bloodthirstiness, sly humor and a general aura of coolness, as well as a bachelor’s degree, knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, New York “registration”.
In New York City, with a population of 8.8 million, there are approximately 2 million rats.
