Greece increased purchases of Russian goods and raw materials

At a time when in Megalo Maximo they declare war on the Kremlin, Greek businessmen are sharply increasing the import of goods and raw materials from Russia.

According to the Greek Statistical Office Elstat, imports of goods from Russia to Greece increased significantly. As a percentage compared to 2021, from January to August 2022, it increased by 137.3%, and in August the growth was 178.3%.

“In August 2022, the value of Greece’s imports from Russia amounted to 1.207 billion euros, an increase of 178.3% compared to August 2021, when it was 433.7 million euros,” the message says.

According to statistics, most of the imports were gas, oil and their products – 1.12 billion euros. Greece bought raw aluminum for 57 million euros.

At the same time, the value of Greek exports to Russia in August 2022 amounted to 8.1 million euros, which is 44.2% less than in August 2021, when it was 14.6 million euros. The trade balance of Greece and Russia in August 2022 was negative, with a deficit of 1.198 billion euros.

Between January and August 2022, the value of Greek imports from Russia amounted to 5.727 billion euros, an increase of 137.3% compared to the period from January to August 2021, when it amounted to 2.413 billion euros, Elstat reported.

It should be noted that the total value of Greek imports from Russia for the whole of 2021 amounted to 4.302 billion euros. You need to understand that this growth is mainly due to rising prices, but not volumes.
