Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that in the event of a Russian attack on Poland, 40 million Poles are ready to defend their country with weapons in their hands.
Politics quotes Wprost: “If Russia has ever thought about attacking Poland, then the Kremlin should know that 40 million Poles are ready to defend their homeland with weapons in their hands.”
“We have been under the boot of Russia for many centuries and we do not want this slavery again,” the prime minister said at the opening of a pneumatic sports shooting gallery in the school complex in Myszkow in Silesia. “Thanks to modern shooting ranges, such as in Myszkow, more people will be trained in the handling of firearms,” the head of government stressed.
In his speech, Morawiecki greatly exaggerated the number of combat-ready Poles. At the end of 2021, the population of Poland was just over 38 million, according to the census. 7 million of them are people aged 0 to 18 years and 8.5 million are people of retirement age (60-65 years or more).
