How to Naturally Repel Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes are perhaps the most annoying insects of the summer. How to get rid of them naturally, experts said.

You can easily get rid of mosquitoes in your home naturally, as many of the ready-made (chemical) insect repellants on the market contain a toxin called DEET, which is very harmful to human health.

Lavender

Pour a few drops of lavender essential oil on all windows and sleep peacefully at night. You can, if you like, apply a little oil on your body to keep mosquitoes away from you.

Lavender-olive oil blend

Make a pleasant and hydrating body butter by mixing 30 drops of lavender essential oil and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Spray this mixture on your body and sleep peacefully without the risk of being attacked by mosquitoes.

Essential Oil Blend

Mix citronella, lemongrass and eucalyptus essential oils in equal amounts and apply to different parts of the body. All three of these oils are the most formidable enemies of mosquitoes.

Rosemary (Δενδρολίβανο)

Mosquitoes love the smell of barbecue, so you can often get in trouble with these insects every time you decide to grill something. However, rosemary is one of the worst enemies of mosquitoes. You can easily scare them away by throwing a few sprigs of rosemary into the grill. Your food will be delicious and mosquitoes will disappear forever.

Remember – when you drink alcohol, you become a more attractive victim for mosquitoes and vice versa – you scare away if you eat garlic.

Grow plants that repel insects

There are plants that repel mosquitoes with their strong smell – basil, mint and lavender. Plant a few pots of these plants in your garden or patio and get rid of annoying mosquitoes.

If you are pregnant, be especially careful because glucose levels are high and you are a target for mosquitoes.

Eat garlic

Garlic, once in the stomach, enters the blood, and then into sweat. This “scent” is a natural mosquito repellant. The only downside is that it can also repel you… those around you.

Don’t leave stagnant water

Do not leave water containers on the terrace. Be sure to empty bowls or pots of excess water so they don’t turn into mosquito nests. Still water is their main breeding ground.

Use “tree of life” oil (ψευδομελέλαιο)

It is an oil pomace obtained from a tree known in India as the “tree of life”. If it is applied to some parts of the body, then mosquitoes will not approach you.

Attention! Oils must be natural. Otherwise, they will have no effect.
