A shooting by an 18-year-old man at Robb Elementary School in Uwald, Texas on Tuesday, May 24, killed 22 people: 19 children aged 5 to 11 and three adults, including the killer himself.
Gov. Greg Abbott said the suspect in the attack is a local resident, Salvador Romas. He was presumably killed by a police officer who arrived at the call. Later, information about the death of Ramos was confirmed to CNN by the representative of the Texas Department of Public Safety, Eric Estrada. It is reported that the attacker acted alone.
Before heading to the elementary school with guns, reports DW, the guy shot his grandmother. Now she is in a hospital in San Antonio.
US President Joe Biden was informed about the incident, according to the press service of the White House. He will be informed of all new information about the incident “as it becomes available,” added Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
Biden ordered the US national flag to be flown at half mast until May 28 at the White House and the buildings of all state, public and military institutions, and US military courts in memory of the victims of this tragedy.
