Part of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions are under Russian occupation. Their residents now, if desired, can obtain Russian citizenship under a simplified procedure.
Vladimir Putin signed a decree on a simplified procedure for granting Russian citizenship to residents of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions of Ukraine. Document published on the official portal legal information. The decree comes into force on the day of its signing.
Moscow denies, writes “Truth of Ukraine”which wages an aggressive war against Ukraine on its territory and calls it a “special operation”, the purpose of which is “demilitarization and denazification”, as well as “protection from genocide”.
In April, Moscow announced new plans – its intention to establish full control over the Donbass and southern Ukraine in order to provide a land corridor to the annexed Crimea and gain access to Transnistria.
