The Greek national airline Aegean Airlines has opened ticket sales to Moscow starting June 2. There will be flights to and from Athens twice a week.
Tickets from Moscow (Domodedovo) to Athens and back cost from 341 euros, although you can buy them on the airline’s website only if you have a foreign bank card. You can pay for tickets with a Russian card at agents.
Now Russian airspace is closed to all airlines from the European Union. However, an Aegean Airlines spokesman said FrequentFlyers.comthat the airline expects that the restrictions will be lifted from June and it will be possible to fly.
The airline’s website states that flights from Domodedovo will be operated from June 2, 2022 to March 25, 2023. The cost of one-way tickets is from 11 to 13 thousand rubles.
At the same time, experts not advised to buy air tickets. “Sales are open for the summer in different directions: Warsaw, Thessaloniki, and Athens, but whether there will be flights is the question,” the press service of the Tutu.ru travel service noted.
On February 28, Russia banned the use of its airspace by airlines from those countries that closed the skies as part of a new package of sanctions. Greece is one of these states.
However, the prices are very attractive, Greek visas are excellent, and 85% of outlets and 95% of ATMs in Greece accept UnionPay cards.
At the same time, the level of Russophobia in Greece is one of the lowest in Europe, many citizens openly sympathize with the policy of the Russian authorities.
