In terms of the number of deaths per million inhabitants from the coronavirus, Greece remains the leader, ahead of European countries and the United States, according to data over the past two weeks.
At the beginning of the pandemic, the Greeks were shocked by images from Italian hospitals and reports on the spread of coronavirus in Europe. The government assured that our country managed to “avoid the worst”, thanks to the actions of the Ministry of Health, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and an expert commission with Sotiris Tsiodras.
Two years later, Europe is sadly watching the situation in Greece – in most countries EU the situation is balanced, and the death rate, thanks to better care in hospitals, has fallen sharply.
This year alone, Greece has lost at least 3.5 thousand people who died from covid. The situation is uncontrollable and indicates chaos in the healthcare system. Analytical data show that in Greece today the number of deaths per million citizens is much higher than in Portugal, Spain, Germany, Great Britain, and Cyprus. The figure exceeds the European average. Dry numbers:
