On the beach of Gouves, my grandfather rushed into the sea to save his 7 and 8-year-old grandchildren when he realized that they were in danger. The boys were rescued, and the man was dragged unconscious by the rescuers and died.
Rescue services, the Coast Guard and EKAB immediately arrived at the scene of today’s incident. First, they pulled the children out of the sea, and the man was unconscious in the water, reports neakriti.gr.
Two children were taken by EKAB rescuers to the Venizelio hospital and are undergoing preventive treatment. It is reported that the grandfather and grandchildren were tourists who were staying at a local hotel.
