Next year, Germany plans to host the 8th World Congress against the Death Penalty, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said on October 10 on the occasion of World Day against the Death Penalty.
This is the largest international event, it is expected that the Congress will bring together representatives of the governments of several countries around the world. Its goal is to finally get rid of the shameful “relic of the past”, writes RIA Novosti, referring to the press service of the department:
“The death penalty is a cruel and irreversible punishment that Germany categorically rejects. It not only violates the right to life, but is incompatible with human dignity. Despite the international trend towards the suspension and abolition of the death penalty, more than 50 states adhere to it, and only a few of them are responsible for the vast majority of executions. “
On September 27, it became known that Meuse received a direct mandate in the Bundestag, having secured the support of 36.7% of voters in the Saarlouis constituency.
