Expert opinion: heat helps “burn” fat, promotes weight loss

The latest research shows how in the summer heat, you are more likely to lose weight, and this is facilitated by Mother Nature herself.

Are you less hungry on sunny and hot days? If so, you're not alone, and scientists say they now know why. The reason is that UV radiation has the ability to reduce the level of hunger hormones in our body and increase hormone levels norepinephrine, which accelerates the process of fat breakdownpreventing weight gain.

Scientists who conducted new research came to these conclusions. The report was published in the academic journal “Journal of Investigative Dermatology”. Dr. Jin Ho Chung, lead researcher and dermatologist, said: “This study clarifies the mechanism by which UV exposure may prevent weight gain and provides a starting point for developing new, revolutionary strategies for treating obesity. The work of our scientists has shown that exposure to UV radiation not only affects the skin, but also plays a role in terms of energy metabolism and homeostasis processes in the body.”

However, experts emphasize that “this does not mean that excessive sun exposure is allowed.” “Because ultraviolet exposure damages cell DNA and can accelerate skin aging and promote the development of skin cancer, it should be limited and sunscreen should always be used,” the researchers note. “Therefore, our research group plans to conduct follow-up studies to develop new strategies that could mimic the effects of UV radiation to combat obesity and regulate metabolism,” the scientists added. To enjoy the sun safely, it's helpful to know a few basic tips:

  • Apply sunscreen 20-30 minutes before going out into the sun. In this way, we allow the composition to be absorbed and activated to protect us from the very beginning of exposure.
  • Renew the cream every two hours. After swimming, drying with a towel or playing sports outdoors (accompanied by sweat), repeat application.
  • We completely avoid exposure to the sun, starting from 12:00 to 16:00 hours (in summer). During this time, solar radiation is stronger and no sunscreen can provide 100% protection.

Combining a balanced diet with regular exercise is the best way to lose weight. So watch your portion sizes, limit processed foods and sugar, and choose foods rich in fiber and protein. By following the advice of a nutritionist and incorporating exercise and good sleep into your life, you can lose weight and get rid of body fat.

Finally, don't deprive yourself of your favorite treats or blacklist certain foods. Eat sweets, but pay attention to one important detail: any “forbidden portion” you desire should preferably be consumed at least 30-60 minutes after a meal or snack.
