Free testing week for sexually transmitted diseases: where to get tested

For one week, EODY and Checkpont are providing free, no-appointment testing for HIV, hepatitis B and C, and other sexually transmitted diseases.

On the occasion of the spring European Testing Week 2024 (EODY 2024), EODY is implementing measures to prevent HIV, hepatitis and other diseases, in order to limit their spread, strengthen the sexual and reproductive health of citizens. EODY will conduct activities to inform, raise awareness and survey the residents of Athens and Thessaloniki.

Where can you get free testing for sexually transmitted diseases from Monday 20 to Friday 24 May

EODY staff will conduct a free, anonymous and confidential screening using the rapid testing method at the following locations:

1. St. Panepistimiou, near the metro (opposite the Academy of Athens). Mobile group EODY, from 09:00 to 14:00. Rapid tests will be carried out on:

• HIV AIDS
• Hepatitis B
• Hepatitis C
• Syphilis.

2. Athens Polyclinic, Piraeus 3, EODY Sexual Health Center, no appointment 09:00-14:00. Rapid tests will be carried out on:

• HIV AIDS
• Hepatitis B
• Hepatitis C
• Syphilis
• Chlamydia
• Gonorrhea.

The screening test will be accompanied by counseling for citizens before and after the examination. Anyone can receive detailed information on sexual health issues. Condoms and information leaflets will also be distributed. All people who have a positive reaction to the rapid test will be sent to medical institutions.

3. Free tests will be conducted by the association “Positive Voice” (“Θετική Φωνή”). Tests can be done:

• in Athens (Pittaki 4, Monastiraki)
• in Thessaloniki (Egnatia 112) without prior registration (and free of charge).

The points will be open from Monday to Monday, May 20-27 (except Sundays) from 12:00 to 19:30.

European Testing Weeknow in its 12th year, is a dynamic European campaign calling on public and non-governmental organizations, communities and health care providers across Europe coordinate a week of free screening for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

The goal is to inform and raise public awareness of the benefits of early diagnosis and effective treatment (while respecting the principle of confidentiality).
