Why you need to refuel your car only on Mondays: an unwritten rule

One way to reduce your car's operating costs is to carefully choose the day you refuel your car.

If until today you thought that all days of the week are the same and therefore it doesn’t matter what day you fill up your car, you may have to change your mind. A survey conducted in the United States of America revealed what can be discovered by monitoring prices at liquid fuel stations on a daily basis.

Analyzing the available data, gasoline price comparison platform published findings from which it follows that within a week there are observed small but very significant fluctuations, which are not associated with jumps in world prices for “black gold”. Experts found that Monday always offers the lowest average gas price and is the best day to fill up.

However, the results of the report showed that Friday is usually one of the most expensive days for gasoline., is now one of the cheapest. This surprising finding contradicts previous reports and suggestions that drivers want to fill up on Friday to prepare for the weekend.

Although daily gasoline prices vary, Ideally, you should refuel at the beginning or end of the work week, on Monday or Friday. After Monday, Sunday is also a “cheap day” to fill up your tank.

Historically, it happened that Saturday was the worst day to visit a gas station. It's still an “expensive” day at the gas stations, plus a busy day for staff, with queues and traffic jams.

However, the research clearly shows that you should avoid refueling midweek because Wednesday is now the second most expensive day after Thursday.
