Today, on Lazarus Saturday, the first wave of trips for the Easter holidays traditionally begins. All those who received additional days of rest for Easter had already packed their bags and hurried out of town.
Traffic in the port of Piraeus increased in the morning. Yesterday 20,000 people traveled on ferries, and today about 25,000. Seventeen routes are planned for today: 7 from Piraeus, 7 from Rafina and 3 from Lavrio.
Also on the morning of 27/04, traffic also increased at the exits from Athens via the Athens-Lamia and Athens-Corinth national highways. Measures have already been taken to ease traffic. Until May 12, enhanced measures have been taken and drivers have been given recommendations to ensure their safety.
The massive outflow of passengers from Athens and Thessaloniki begins this weekend and reaches a peak only in the middle of Holy Week. According to the company, Corfu remains the favorite Easter destination in Greece, while Ikaria and Sitia were a pleasant “surprise” this year due to the high occupancy of flights.
However, as for the preferences of the Greeks in terms of foreign excursions, Morocco became the leader in the list of preferences (tickets for flights to Marrakesh were sold out in a matter of weeks). At the same time, Naples and Stockholm are not deprived of the attention of the Greeks.
