Police in the French capital surrounded the Iranian consulate building after reports that a man entered it “with a grenade or a vest filled with explosives.”
According to Le Parisien newspaper, the alleged perpetrator placed several flags on the floor of the consulate and said he wanted to avenge his brother's death.

BFM TV subsequently reported that police had detained a man suspected of attacking the consulate. According to journalists, he turned out to be a 60-year-old Frenchman of Iranian origin.
